SMARTER CHEMISTRY FOR A CHANGING INDUSTRY.
Unlock more metal. Improve profitability.
Built for the realities of modern mining and the demands of a changing world.
Maverick Metals is a team of scientists, engineers, and problem-solvers driven by a shared belief: critical metals recovery shouldn’t be limited by ineffective technology or costly infrastructure. We bring together technical depth, fresh perspective, and practical insight to help mining operations extract more value with less complexity, costs, and environmental impact.
We partner with producers across copper, gold, rare earth elements, platinum group metals, and more to improve extraction from complex ores and waste streams - without high heat, large volumes of acid, or high CAPEX.
At the core of our work is LithX, a proprietary lixiviant that:
Eric Herrera is a scientist turned industrial innovator, leading Maverick Metals as Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer with a clear mission: to enhance copper and critical metals supply. With a multidisciplinary foundation in geology, chemistry, neuroscience and biotechnology, Eric brings a cross-functional approach to one of the world’s toughest industrial challenges – recovering critical metals from low-grade ores and legacy waste.
Before co-founding Maverick, Eric conducted research at the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense and explored neurochemical systems as a Levy Fellow at Washington and Lee University. He studied environmental toxicology in Mexico and Ghana, conducted geological research at the UT Jackson School of Geosciences, and once tracked down a lost temple while studying anthropology.
Eric is passionate about solving real-world industrial problems – especially those that sit at the intersection of extraction technology, energy security, and industrial efficiency.
Jesse Evans is a seasoned entrepreneur and operator with a proven track record of building high-performing teams and scalable systems. As Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Maverick Metals, he leads operations, business development, and strategy, applying a career that spans high-growth venture-backed startups, climate tech, data platforms, and sustainability initiatives.
Prior to Maverick, Jesse led operations and business development at several companies and supported early-stage growth through Y Combinator. His background also includes international business in Spain and Denmark, as well as a business degree from Washington and Lee University.
With experience in environmental science, business, and geology, Jesse approaches metals recovery with a practical blend of technical knowledge and operational perspective. He's driven by real-world outcomes and brings a clear-eyed approach to solving complex problems, helping Maverick move quickly and scale with purpose.
Maverick is growing fast, and we’re looking for problem-solvers and professional leaders who want to shape the future of extraction. If you thrive in fast-paced, technical environments and believe in doing more with what the world already has, we’d love to hear from you.
